Testing your Communication with the USB Cable

If you receive the error message "Unable to initialize communications with the phone.." when trying to use iDEN Update, you may have a communication problem between the phone and the application. One method to check the communication that is built into iDEN Update is the User Preference/Communication tool.

This tool is available by clicking on Preferences>User Preferences. With the Communications tab selected, make sure the checkbox for Connected via USB is selected. With the phone powered on and connected to your USB cable, click the Test button. The iDEN Update application will now attempt to communicate with the phone via the cable. The results will be displayed in the Status window within the tool. If the communications are successful, click Apply or OK to exit and you can resume using the application.
